Riding through the Alps on the 800MT-X: A legendary journey past peaks and passes

The Alps remain one of the most spectacular playgrounds for bikers. This recent Edelweiss High Alpine Tour showed exactly why. Starting from the charming town of Erding, the route took riders past iconic mountain passes, breathtaking valleys and into the heart of the Italian Dolomites.

Breathtaking mountain roads and Alpine peaks

From the very first stretch, the landscape set the tone. Narrow, winding roads cut through dramatic rock faces and opened up to sweeping views of gorges and mountain lakes. Along the way, stops were made at the Marmolada, the highest peak in the Dolomites with 3340 metres and at the legendary Stelvio Pass often described as the "King of the Passes." Each location offered not only impressive scenery but also roads that seemed designed to challenge and reward each rider.

A real all-rounder in the Alps

Central to the adventure was the CFMOTO 800MT-X but also the 700MT Adventure. Tested on everything the Alps have to offer: sharp hairpins, cobbles, flowing mountain roads and gravel paths. The bike proved versatile and comfortable steering effortlessly through corners and remained stable even with a passenger on the back.

On paved roads, the 800MT-X out in cornering and delivered convincing performance. Offroad, it also showed itself capable even compared to models with a larger front wheel. Riders praised the balance between touring ease and agility and called it one of the most comfortable adventure bikes in the middle class.

Challenges and highlights

No long journey is without challenges. During one stretch, a minor accident occurred at a low-speed U-turn. Fortunately, no one was injured and damage to the bike was limited. The incident was a reminder of how unpredictable Alpine roads can be. But it did not detract anything from the experience of the ride.

The real highlights were the mountain passes themselves. Stelvio, with its staggering 48 hairpin bends stood out as the ultimate challenge. While the Dolomites offered unrivalled natural beauty. Every break along the way provided another photo-worthy view, exactly what makes the Alps so irresistible to motorcyclists.

A ride to remember

This tour of the Alps and Dolomites showed not only the greatness of the region, but also the capabilities of the 800MT-X and 700MT as a fully-fledged adventure touring motorbike. From wide Alpine roads to unpaved mountain trails the bike always delivered an immersive and reliable riding experience.

The Alps proved once again to be more than just a destination it is an experience. With roads that challenge both rider and machine combined with landscapes that leave a lasting impression.
