CFMOTO Racing shines on the big screen in MotoGP film 'IDOLS'

The adrenaline is rising, the bikes are roaring and MotoGP has a real blockbuster on its hands. The official trailer of 'IDOLS: The Last lap' was screened for the first time worldwide at EICMA 2025 and gives a spectacular first impression of a film set in a completely real MotoGP setting, with authentic footage and a setting straight out of the world championship. And among those world champions: CFMOTO Racing, which plays a prominent role in this unseen film production.

A fiery young motorbike rider, Edu Serra (Óscar Casas), throws away his chance at the junior championship due to a reckless crash. Yet he unexpectedly receives an offer from a coveted top Moto2™ team, which offers him another chance at redemption. But to grab it, he must train under his estranged father, Toni (Claudio Santamaria), a disgraced former world champion haunted by a tragic past. As father and son battle personal demons, media pressure and a relentless racing circuit, their fractured bond comes under extreme stress from ambition, love and the merciless speed of the sport. With a possible wildcard entry into MotoGP on the horizon, they must face the fragments of their relationship to claim a future both on and off the track.

The film will appear on 19 March 2026.  'IDOLS' is a Spanish-Italian co-production of 4 Cats Pictures and Warner Bros, with Film Mode Entertainment who handles international sales.

REAL TEAMS. REAL RACES. REAL RACES.

Where most motorsport films rely on controlled scenes, 'IDOLS' was fully immersed in the real-life 2024 MotoGP season.

The filming was carried out in close collaboration with MotoGP judge Dorna Sports. They lasted 10 weeks and took place at various locations in Barcelona and Valencia, as well as at world-famous circuits such as Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Misano World Circuit in Italy, MotorLand Aragón in Spain, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Jerez in Andalusia, Mobility Resort Motegi in Japan and Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia.

FILMING AT 300 KM/H

As 2nd Unit Director, Arturo M. Antolín made a key contribution to the uniquely realistic style of' IDOLS'. His duties ranged from running with real MotoGP riders and team members, to filming stunts, crashes and breakneck racing scenes.

He also worked with the main cast on scripted scenes that fell outside the main unit's schedule, and even took charge of that main unit when director Mat Whitecross could not be on set.

Antolín also joined the team as Additional Editor, where he worked closely with Whitecross on his director's cut, making 'IDOLS' not only a sports film but also a technical masterpiece.

A CAST FULL OF FIRE AND CHARACTER

The starring role is for Spanish star Óscar Casas, who portrays Edu Serra in the film and is surrounded by a cast as intense and energetic as the sport itself.

      • Óscar Casas as Edu Serra

      • Claudio Santamaria as Antonio Belardi

      • Ana Mena as Luna Cardona

      • Enrique Arce as Eli Guzmán

      • Saul Nanni as Gianni Baltelli

      • Mario Ermito as Roberto Scala

      • Desirèe Pöpper as Alessandra

      • Simone Baldasseroni as Andrea Godano

      • Alessandra Carrillo as Nella

      • Adrian Grösser as Óscar

Written by Inma Cánovas, Jordi Gasull and Ricky Roxburgh, 'IDOLS' is a mix of drama, speed and the sheer pressure of top competition. Producer Jordi Gasull aptly describes it:

“Days of Thunder... but on motorbikes.”

A TOP EUROPEAN PRODUCTION WITH MOTOGP IN THE DNA

'IDOLS' is a Spanish-Italian co-production of Warner Bros. Spain and Warner Bros. Italy, with Film Mode Entertainment handling international sales.

With stunning cinematography by Xavier Giménez, assembly by Ascen Marchena and art direction of Sylvia Steinbrecht, the film takes the motorsport genre to the next level.

But it is mainly the collaboration with MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports which makes this project unique. By filming during real races, 'IDOLS' becomes an uncompromising, authentic ode to top sport and a prime time for CFMOTO Racing to showcase their pure raceminded spirit to a global audience.
