Carlos Cano, Moto3 Junior World Champion, is set to become a World Championship rider in 2027

The CFMOTO Aspar Team Junior rider will join Marco Morelli in Moto3 in 2027, having been crowned champion of the MotoJunior World Championship last Sunday.

Moto3 Junior World Champion Carlos Cano will compete in the World Championship with the CFMOTO Aspar Team in 2027. Cano is making the move up to Moto3 following a memorable year in MotoJunior. The young Spanish rider, who turns 17 this coming December, has concluded his first and only season in the Moto3 Junior World Championship as class champion after securing six podium finishes – including five victories – with the CFMOTO Aspar Team Junior. Cano’s career in the World Championship’s feeder series thus culminates in a European Talent Cup title in 2024, second place in the championship last season and now the Moto3 Junior title with the team.

Now that Máximo Quiles is moving up to Moto2, Jorge Martínez’s “Aspar” team had to find a rider to fill the spot left vacant by the newly crowned Moto3 World Champion. In a season in which all three Aspar Team Junior riders were in contention for the title – and in which they were the only ones to reach the final round with a mathematical chance of winning the championship – the rider from Murcia has been chosen to make the step up.

Jorge Martínez “Aspar”:

"With the arrival of Carlos Cano, we have confirmed the final rider we needed for the upcoming World Championship season. We are delighted to have him on board for 2027 and to support him as he makes his debut. This year, we have seen him make great strides with the Aspar Team Junior and, despite this being his first year in the class, he has demonstrated that he has a great deal of talent. The title was the crowning glory of a fantastic season for him and the team. We are delighted to continue supporting him on his journey and hope to help him in every way possible during this new chapter.”

Carlos Cano:

"I’m absolutely delighted to be making the step up to the World Championship next year, and above all that I’ll be doing so with the CFMOTO Aspar Team. Ever since I was a child, it’s been my goal to reach the World Championship – and to do so with them of all people. It’s a fantastic team. I hope to make good progress next year. It will be a year of learning a lot, getting to know the team well and discovering many new circuits. Every race will be an opportunity to learn from the fastest riders.”

With Carlos Cano’s promotion, CFMOTO once again underlines its role as the premier launchpad for the next generation of motorsport talent. By preparing young riders from the junior classes for the highest level on the world stage, the CFMOTO Aspar Team is building the champions of the future.
